B'lore: Fire at Konark Hotel on Residency Road

Bangalore, Apr 12: A fire has broken out at the Konark Hotel on the busy Residency Road in Bangalore.

Three fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. Fire fighting efforts are on.

No causalities have been reported so far.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of the hotel in the popular NYX (also known as NYK's) pub, part of the Konark Hotel, on Monday, Apr 12 afternoon. Most of the people have been evacuated from the Gold Towers building, which houses the hotel.

A huge cloud of smoke is emanating from the building, which is visible from quiet a distance.

Residency Road is located in the heart of the city as it connects other significant links such as the MG Road, Commercial Street and Brigade Road.

This comes after the Feb 23 fire at the multi-storey Carlton Towers in the city's Old Airport Road, in which nine lives were lost.
