I accept full responsibility for the massacre: PC

New Delhi, Apr 9: The 'buck stops at my desk' said Home Minister P Chidambaram on Friday, Apr 9, as he claimed 'full responsibility' for the gruesome Dantewada massacre.

"I have been asked directly or indirectly where the buck stops after the attack. The buck stops at my desk," he said at a CRPF function here.

Chidambaram said that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, claiming 'full responsibility' for the deadley attack, a day after his return from Dantewada, Chattisgarh, where 76 CRPF personnels were killed by the Maoists on Tuesday, Apr 6.

However, the Home Minister declined to comment further saying, "let me not elaborate."

Speaking during the 'Shourya Diwas' (valour day) of CRPF, Chidambaram praised the selfless services offered by the paramilitary forces.

He said that the government was making effort to ensure that all the personnels are well-paid, well-housed and well-equipped.

The Home Minister also said that the Ministry would see to it that the families of slain jawans receive compensation within this month, adding that a job to one member from each family would be ensured.
