17 Indians facing death in UAE to appeal on Apr 7
New Delhi, Apr 7: An appeal is expected to be filed on behalf of 17 Indians on death row in Sharjah on Wednesday, Apr 7.
The appeal will be filed by Mohammad Salman, a lawyer appointed by government to represent the Indians.
The 17 Indians were awarded death sentence for killing a Pakistani in Jan 2009, over an illegal alcohol business.
According to officials, the UAE court has given a deadline of two weeks after the pronouncement of judgement within which an appeal has be filed.
The UAE government had also made it clear that its legal system guarantees a fair trial and the death sentence is subject to appeal.
