Pennagaram by-poll results on Mar 30

Chennai, Mar 30: The results of the Pennagaram by-election is expected to be out on Tuesday, Mar 30 as the Election Commission of India begun the process of counting the votes at 8 pm.

The counting is underway at the Government Arts College in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu.

The polls which were held on Saturday, Mar 27 saw high voter turn out. The constituency is part of the backward district of Dharmapuri.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA PN Periyannan in Dec 2009.

DMK, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhaga (DMDK) are the parties fighting for the seat.
