Hero Honda enters K'taka with Rs 2k cr investment

Bangalore, Mar 29: Two-wheeler giant Hero Honda is entering Karnataka with a huge investment of Rs 2,000 as the state government has allotted 500 acres of land for the company near Hubli airport.

"Hero Honda is coming (to the state). We are going to give them 500 acres near Hubli airport near Dharwad. They are investing Rs 2,000 crore. They need 1,000 skilled workers. It will have annual capacity to manufacture one lakh two-wheelers," Karnataka's Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani said on Sunday, Mar 28.

The minister is also trying to woo South Korean steel major Posco and Indian TVS Group into the state.

Nirani is scheduled to hold talks with Posco in Seaol in the first week of Apr 2010 in connection with the proposed Rs 32,000-crore steel plant in Karnataka.

He will also be holding talks with TVS on establishing an engine manufacturing unit in the state.
