After sea link row, Amitabh hails Maharashtra

Pune, Mar 29: After Shiv Sena backed him on the Bandra Worli sea link controvery, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan has hailed Maharashtra and Marathis.

Bachchan, who was earlier attacked by Sena for doing more for Uttar Pradesh rather than Maharashtra where he achieved fame, has suddenly entered the good books of Shiv Sena and Bal Thackeray.

In a probable response to this development, Big B expressed his gratitude towards the 'sacred soil' of Maharashtra where he achieved fame and success.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the 83rd All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, the actor said, "I salute this sacred soil of Maharashtra. Whatever I am today is because of Maharashtra which has given me name, honour, home, and also wife."

Bachchan was recently in the middle of a controversy when members of Mumbai Congress took offense to his presence at the second phase inauguration of the sea link. The fact that the actor was the brand ambassador of BJP-ruled Gujarat was also brought up.

Shiv Sena and its ally in the state Bharatiya Janata Party came to the rescue of the actor and attacked political rival Congress for the row.
