Guwahati to have first five-star hotel
Guwahati, Mar 10 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has laid the foundation stone of Rs 90-crore first five star hotel by Taj Group - Taj Vivanta, in Guwahati in the presence of Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Sons.
Gogoi said this project has been a much-awaited dream of the people residing in the entire region and it would certainly pep up the tourism in the State.
He also said that the response from both the public and private sectors had been overwhelming.
Ratan Tata termed Assam as a new emerging place with ample scope for future development.
"There is a new Assam here and I think most of us have committed ourselves to be here because we are drawn by both the challenges and by the opportunities that are here. And that has been the basis of our commitment. We don't need to be here, we are here by choice and we are drawn to the State that shows great promise and has great potential," he added.
The hotel will have 150 rooms and suites and will be built with a design theme inspired by local architecture.
The hotel will have a day-long dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a bar, besides recreation facilities like an expensive spa and fitness centre. (ANI)
