India's food inflation rises to 17.87 pc
New Delhi, Mar 4: India's food inflation rose to 17.87 per cent for the week ended Feb 20, a official data showed on Thursday, Mar 4.
The food inflation in the previous week was at 17.58 per cent.
According to the data, the prices of rice increased 10 per cent, wheat 14 per cent, pulses 35 per cent, onions 11 per cent and potatoes 28 per cent.
The inflation in fuel, power light and lubricant group was 9.59 per cent, slightly lower compared with 9.89 per cent in the previous week.
The government's decision to hike auto fuel prices has resulted in fears that food prices could rise further in the coming months.
