Varun Gandhi criticizes Pawar, Mayawati over price rise issue

Shikarpur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 7 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi has blamed Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for the spiralling prices of essential commodities, naming them as Ravana and Shurpanakha.

Addressing a public rally at Shikarpur in his constituency of Pilibhit, Gandhi said, "The duo of brother and sister is responsible for the price rise in the country. The pair of Ravana and Shurpanakha are causing price rise in the country. One is ruling in Delhi and another in Lucknow."

The Pilibhit MP, who is looked upon as a future of the party had earlier got a case registered against himself over his vitriolic statements against Muslim community during the last general elections.

As for Varun Gandhi's sarcastic remarks, Ravana and his sister Shurpanakha are depicted as demons in the Hindu epic Ramayana. (ANI)
