Jalandhar's senior deputy mayor beaten up by staff
Jalandhar, Feb 5 (ANI) Kamaljeet Singh Bhatia, Senior Deputy Mayor of Jalandhar was on Thursday beaten up by leaders of an employees union of the municipal corporation for his alleged manhandling of a civic body official.
Municipal corporation sourses said the trouble started when Bhatia and a few councillors entered the commissioner's office and had a heated exchange with union leaders.
The office of the commissioner suffered extensive damage following the scuffle.
Union leaders alleged that Bhatia misbehaved with a corporation official with whom they had some work.
Subordinate employees cornered Bhatia and ruthlessly beat him up.
Bhatia accused the subordinate employees of convincing with senior officials of the corporation for the physical assault on him.
He said there were around 200 to 250 people present in the office at the time of the incident.
Bhatia has been admitted to hospital. (ANI)
