Indians denied of 3G as govt postpones auction

New Delhi, Jan 29: The Government's auction of third-generation wireless spectrum has been postponed again till next fiscal.

According to officials, law minister and member of the EGoM, Veerappa Moily has opined that the 3G auction should be held when the spectrum is available.

Officials also said that the 3G auction is expected to take place in Aug-Sep 2010.

India being one of the fastest mobile growing country could have used mobile internet to a great extent as wired internet hasn't taken off in India.

During Dec 2009, 19 million mobile subscriptions were added in India, taking the total wireless subscription to 525.15 million.

The continuous delay will have some adverse impact on the government's finances and the fiscal deficit.
