India's freedom movement enacted to inspire Tripura youngsters
Agartala, Jan 26 (ANI): Rani Laxmibai, the Queen of Jhansi is synonymous with bravery and she was among the first ones to join the war of independence against British colonial rule in India.
Recently a play that was a part of an event to mark 150 years of the first war of independence was organized to pay tribute to her contribution to the freedom struggle.
Rani Laxmibai was an epitome of courage and bravery.
Recently a dance drama named 'Laxmibai' was performed in the Nazrul Kalashetra of Tripura to mark 150 years of the First War Of Independence. hief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the event that was organized with a motive to strengthen patriotism and enlighten young people about India's freedom struggle.
Such programmes inspire the young generation and help them find out more about their motherland. It also strengthens patriotic feelings among them.
Hundreds thronged Nazrul Kalashetra to witness the play that dealt with Laxmibai's brave revolt against East India Company.
Speaking to ANI, Boisali Das Roy, who played Rani Laxmibai's role in the play said: "We should know about our history and so that the new generation, that is not interested about the past, will benefit by watching the programme. I want more such types of programmes to be organized so that the youth develop an interest about our history."
The event was an attempt to bring to life the stories thousands of martyrs who gave their lives for India's freedom. By Pinaki Das (ANI)
