Udaipur: Baby dies after doctors cut off her arm
New Delhi, Jan 24: In a shocking incident, a newborn lost her life in a government hospital after doctors allegedly chopped off her arm during a caesarian section.
The family members alleged that the newborn girl died due to medical negligence at The Pannadhai Hospital in Udaipur on Thursday, Jan 21.
Family members said that the baby was not even given a proper dressing after the injury which occurred during the operation.
Speaking to reporters, the baby's father Ranjeet said, "Her whole arm got cut by the blade during the operation. She was lying helpless for two days without even proper dressing."
But more shocking is the lackadaisical response of the hospital, despite the loss of an infants's life.
"During delivery the baby's arm got hurt. But it was not serious. In such cases things like this do happen," says Kamlesh Punjabi, dean of the hospital.
Angry locals staged protest outside the hospital alleging medical negligence and demanding action against the guilty. The district administration has set up a probe committee.
