Security tightened in Agra ahead of Republic Day
Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 24 (ANI): The security has been tightened here ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.
The areas near the Taj Mahal have been put on high alert, as historical monuments become an easy terror target due to the inflow of tourists.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Agra Uday Pratap said that by stepping up the security activity, the competence and alertness of the administration is also checked.
Pratap said, "Checking keeps on happening every now and then. This also checks if the administration is working properly."
"As January 26 is approaching, the inflow of the tourists from outside and the vehicles, which come from outside the state, are all being checked so that no unfortunate incident takes place," he added.
Meanwhile, the security has been beefed up in other parts of the country as well. (ANI)
