Pachauri admits 'regrettable' error in IPCC report
New Delhi, Jan 23: The Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) chief, RK Pachauri finally spoke to the media and filed his response on the controversy stirred by the 2007 report on early disappearance of Himalayan glaciers.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Jan 23, Mr Pachauri admitted to the 'regrettable error' made in the report after the credibility of the UN Panel's was questioned when it was learnt that the panel's statement on the Himalayan glaciers' disappearance by 2035 was made without sufficient peer review.
"The statement on glacial retreat in the technical report is a regrettable error arising out of established processes not being diligently followed," the IPCC chief said.
However, Pachauri said that the chances of the panel having made more errors in its 2007 report were 'minimal if not non-existent'.
