Citi appoints Alasdair Morrison as senior advisor Asia
Hong Kong, Jan 18 (ANI/Business Wire India): Citigroup today announced the appointment of Alasdair Morrison as Senior Advisor Citi Asia. In this newly created role Mr Morrison, a former Taipan of Jardine Matheson and Chairman and CEO of Morgan Stanley Asia, will support the ongoing expansion of Citi's market-leading Global Banking franchise in the region.
Morrison will also join Citi's Senior Strategic Advisory Group.
Global Banking is responsible for the coverage of Citi's largest institutional clients, delivering a full suite of world-class corporate and investment banking products and expertise.
Commenting on Mr Morrison's appointment, Stephen Bird and Shirish Apte, joint-CEOs for Citi Asia Pacific, said:
"Alasdair brings nearly 40 years of experience and a deep knowledge of Asia Pacific to bear in helping us further enhance the value we bring to our clients. We look forward to the contribution Alasdair will make to our Global Banking franchise, which delivers the best thinking, products and services in the market, and to our effort to build a global, more client-focused business," said Mr Bird.
"This newly created senior advisor role underlines our commitment to provide our clients access to more senior resources and highlights the ongoing growth opportunities we see across our Global Banking franchise. Alasdair is highly respected in the industry and his partnership with our senior team will help increase our ability to build our business and grow with our clients," said Apte.
Commenting on his new role, Morrison said: "Throughout my many years in Asia, I have been aware of Citi's long history and strong client franchise across the region. This continues today with Citi being the No 1 capital raising institution in Asia in 2009, giving it a unique breadth across capital markets. With Vikram Pandit leading Citigroup into a new era, Citi's prominence and continued success in Asia Pacific is the best example of the future potential of Citigroup globally. I am delighted to have the opportunity to complement the excellent work being achieved by Stephen, Shirish and the Citi Asia team."

He is Non-Executive Chairman of Kang and Company and North Asia Investment Corporation, a Non-Executive Director of Pacific Basin Shipping, the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange and Grosvenor Group Limited and is a member of the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board of Bloomberg.
