SP Muslim MLAs want Amar Singh expelled
New Delhi, Jan 11: A day after Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav said he did not accept Amar Singh's resignation, a group of Muslim MLAs have launched a campaign demanding the expulsion of Amar Singh.
"Mulayam Singh Yadav should accept the resignation of Singh from party posts and also expel him from the party," SP MLA from Amroha Mehboob Ali told reporters, adding that he has damaged the credibility of the party.
Iqbal Mehmood from Sambal, Sahid Manzoor from Kithor in Meerut district, SP's youth wing president from Meerut Wasim Raja and former district president of Moradabad unit Javed Khan are among the others MLAs demanding Amar's expulsion.
When asked about the Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari quitting party posts, the group said, "Mandali (group) came together and would leave together."
On Amar Singh attending the Saifai Mahotsav at Ettawah, the group said that Amar was free to attend it as he likes the company of Bollywood stars.
