IBN-Lokmat attack: Sunil Raut granted bail

Mumbai, Jan 5: The sessions court in Mumbai has granted bail to Sunil Raut, the prime accused in the attack on the IBN-Lokmat office, along with 19 other Shiv Sainiks on Tuesday, Jan 5.

Citing completion of investigation, the Court approved the bail plea of the culprits on on a bond of Rs25,000 each

The court added that as a chargesheet has been filed against them the custody of the accused under such condition was not required.

Sunil, who is the brother of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was arrested with 19 other Shiv Sainiks on Nov 20, 2009 for ransacking the office of the TV channel and beating up the staff members in South Mumbai.

The Sainiks accused the TV channel of projecting the Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray in a bad light.

Earlier the court had rejected the bail plea of the accused, citing a prima facie case against them.
