Tamil Nadu lawyers protest demanding hike in welfare fund
Chennai, Dec 30 (ANI): Thousands of lawyers boycotted court proceedings on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu, demanding immediate hike in their welfare funds.
Members of the law association gathered in front of the Madras High Court building to press for their demands.
N. Kamaraj of Chennai Advocate's Association said, "The Tamil Nadu and Puducherry federations are conducting the boycott and are restraining the courts for the past two days. The reason for the boycott is to increase the welfare fund from 4,278 to 10,693 US Dollars."
The lawyers also demand that the Tamil Nadu Government should take immediate action against police officials who baton charged lawyers in the Madras High Court premises on February 19 this year. (ANI)
