Celina Jaitley launches PETA calendar
Mumbai, Dec 30 (ANI): Bollywood actor Celina Jaitley unveiled the 2010 calendar of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that has been brought out to further mass awareness on the need to stop cruel treatment of animals and save them.
She formally launched the 2010 PETA calendar at an event here on Tuesday.
She said that animals which are featured in the calendar had been rescued by the organisation.
"All the animals that are featured in this calendar have been rescued by the PETA. They have been sent to well-to-do homes, sanctuaries and some of them to the institutions that care for animals," she added.
Several actors such as John Abraham, Raveena Tandon and Celina Jaitley have actively participated in PETA campaigns and have also promoted vegetarianism through advertisements.
Some of these stars were also felicitated with special awards by PETA on the anniversary celebrations.
Founded in 2000, PETA India is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of animals.
The forum operates under the simple principle that animals are not for eating, wearing, experimenting on, or using for entertainment.
PETA India educates policy-makers and the public about animal abuse and promotes the understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. (ANI)
