Raped by Ex-DIG, woman waits 12 years for justice

Jaipur, Dec 29: Another case similar to that of the 1990 Ruchika molestation case has emerged in Rajasthan. A woman, who was allegedly raped by an ex-DIG in 1997, has now raised a cry for justice.

According to media reports, the woman from Bandikui claims that she was raped by former DIG Madhukar Tandon and that she has been waiting for over 12 years now for justice.

A rape and sexual exploitation case was filed against the accused in Dausa in 1997 and nothing much has been done about that.

“Just like the Haryana policeman was punished, I too want justice," the rape victim has been quoted as saying in news reports.

The victim is referring to the Ruchika molestation case where former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore was convicted after 19 years. However, the light and late sentence awarded to the accused has brought heavy criticism from the public.

Similar to what happened in Ruchika case, wherein the family came under heavy pressure to back off, the husband of the Rajasthan victim claims that he pressurised with money and muscle power to withdraw case.

The victim and her husband are currently waiting to meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who has allegedly refused to meet them, turning the case into a bigger controversy.
