No immediate hike in fuel prices: Govt

New Delhi, Dec 29: The Centre has no immediate plans to raise fuel prices, petroleum secretary R S Pandey said on Tuesday, Dec 29.

The minister's statement comes after a newspaper reported that auto fuel prices could be raised early next year.

"There is no such proposal yet," Pandey said, when asked to comment on the news report.

India previously raised fuel prices by as much as 10 per cent in Jul 2009, when global crude oil prices were hovering at about $70 a barrel.
