Core infrastructure industries expand in Nov 2009
New Delhi, Dec 24: Core infrastructure industries posted a whopping 5.3 per cent growth in Nov 2009 as opposed to 0.8 pc in 2008.
The segments of steel and petroleum refinery products, which showed a contraction of 6.3 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively in 2008, expanded 11.7 per cent and 4.9 per cent in Nov 2009.
According to the official data, the cement marginally improved by 9 pc against 8.7 pc.
On the negative side, crude oil dipped by 1.6 per cent.
The data also showed that coal sector grew at a lesser rate as it recorded an expansion of 3.3 per cent versus 9.7 per cent in 2008.
These six core sectors constitute 26.7 per cent to the country"s industrial production.
