Mukesh Ambani world's 5th best CEO

New Delhi, Dec 18: Mukesh Ambani has been ranked as the World's 5th best CEO out of 50 CEOs by Harvard Business Review.

The Review has placed Ambani, who heads Reliance Industries, among the likes of Steve Jobs of Apple, Yun Jong-Yong of Samsung Electronics, Russian energy firm Gazprom's Alexey Miller and John Chambers of Cisco Systems.

He is the only Indian to figure in the list.

Ambani also ranks second among the the top 10 emerging market CEOs, while another Indian K V Kamath of ICICI Bank ranks 8.

The Review came to the conclusion based on study conducted on over 2000 CEOs worldwide, comprising of 48 nationalities and companies based in 33 countries.

He also shares his position as the "up-through-the-ranks leaders" with the Samsung boss, Yun Jong-Yong .

"Among the up-through-the-ranks leaders on our list are Yun Jong-Yong, who joined Samsung straight out of college and worked there 30 years before becoming CEO, and Mukesh Ambani, who joined RIL in 1981, when it was still a textile company run by his father, " the review said.
