Chiranjeevi may resign in support of united AP

Hyderabad, Dec 17: Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi is likely to resign from the assembly and an announcement in this regard is expected to be made on Thursday, Dec 17.

The Prajya Rajyam Party (PRP) supremo is under pressure from his party MLAs, who want him to establish a clear-cut stance on the Telangana issue.

Chiranjeevi, who held discussions with the senior party leaders on Wednesday, Dec 16, started a fast in support of united AP in Tirupati.

This move has not gone in well with the PRP MLAs from Telangana region.

Earlier over fifteen PRP MLAs from Ralayaseema and coastal Andhra submitted their resignations protesting the Centre's decision to allow formation of Telangana.

Chiranjeevi who represents Tirupati in the assembly hails from the Rayalaseema region and has stood his ground in support of an Andhra consisting of Telangana and Rayalaseema regions united.
