Pre-paid mobile ban: Center, JK govt given 2 weeks
New Delhi, Dec 15: With regard to the PIL filed against the ban on pre-paid connection in Jammu-Kashmir, SC has been granted two weeks time to the Center and the J&K government to respond to the appeal.
Earlier on Nov 16, the SC had ordered the ministries of Home and Telecom and the State government to respond within two weeks to the PIL filed by Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party questioning the ban on pre-paid connection in the region.
The Court has now extended the date of hearing on the matter to Jan 8, 2010.
Pre-paid connections in the state was banned by the center as there were reports on terrorists making excessive of the connections.
