Gorkhaland : Jaswant appeals to Advani

New Delhi, Dec 15: The demand for Gorkhaland brought together expelled BJP leader and Darjeeling MP Jaswant Singh and BJP Leader LK Advani for the first time on Monday, Dec 14.

Speaking in favor of a separate Gorkhaland in the Lok Sabha, Singh urged the House to issue an appeal to the fasting Gorkha Mukhti Morcha (GJM) to withdraw its four-day hunger strike and come to the negotiating table on Dec 21.

In a personal address to LK Advani, Singh at the end of his appeal requested Advani to support the cause.

" My former colleague with whom I have had the pleasure of sitting with for four decades," Singh addressed Advani.

In response Advani said that the mention of his name as 'my colleague' with regard to the manifesto, indicates his meeting with the Gorkha delegation.

Jaswant Singh was expelled from BJP on Aug 19, 2009, for his book, 'Jinnah - India, Partition, Independence' in which he praises Pakistan founder Mohd Ali Jinnah, while being critical about Sardar Patel.
