'Has LS absenteeism virus affected RS?'
New Delhi, Dec 8: Finding members of the house absent during the Question hour, Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari wondered if the absenteeism 'virus' spread from Lok Sabha.
Noting that six of the members, whose questions were listed for reply, were absent on Tuesday, Dec 8, Ansari questioned, "Is there a virus?"
And when a member recalled that similar scenes haunt the lower hour during question hour and it may have also affected the upper house now, Ansari said, " I think so."
Varinder Singh Bajwa (SAD), Prabha Thakur (Congress), Nand Kumar Sai (BJP), Sabir Ali (LJP), Rajeev Shukla (Congress) and S Anbalagan (AIADMK) were those who failed to turn up on Tuesday, Dec 8.
This is the second consecutive day that the Rajya Sabha was forced to witness such a scene.
On Monday, Dec 7 the chairman informed that the house was considering amending rules to ensure that the problem of absenteeism was addressed.
