Infosys hiring Americans, replacing Indians
Bangalore, Oct 14: In disappointing news, IT giant Infosys Technologies is hiring more Americans and will be replacing Indian employees with local talent in United States.
This comes after the US Congress tightened the visa regulations and the company intends to surpass the visa problems and strengthen their businesses.
The company has already recruited 72 Americans and 140 more offers are under way, say reports.
Financial Chronicle quotes Nandita Gurjar, senior VP and group head of human resources at Infosys as saying that this started in Apr 2009 and that the the hiring would be completed by Apr 2010 with 1,000 Americans on board.
The company will b replacing the Indian staff on deputation to the US, with people with four to five years of experience and domain knowledge of different technologies.
With this, the company also plans to account for 4.67 percent of the non-Indian employee strength and hopes to take the figure to 15 per cent by 2012.
Infosys has not planned to fill senior management positions in the US now, except a couple in sales, ompany's Director, T V Mohandas Pai informed adding that company believed in having the 'most capable person heading the best positions' when asked if American could be hired to head its North American operations.
Apart from US, Infosys is also hiring in Brazil (about 250 people initially), China, Germany, Mexico and the Philippines.
