Chandigarh, Oct 10(ANI): Pakistani traders participating in a Chandigarh fair are doing a brisk business as a large number of visitors are thronging to their stalls for exclusive fabrics and handicrafts.

Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the four-day annual fair will last till October 13, offers an enticing opportunity for the locals to grab the latest products ahead of festive season to be heralded by Diwali.

Even the Pakistani traders are overwhelmed by the response that they have received at their stalls.

"We are being received with a lot of love and affection. They (Indian customers) want to buy our products and they love this fabric," said Shazia Rashid, a trader from Pakistan.

Some of the traders have participated in earlier fairs hosted by the city and believe that the trade between the two countries will continue to increase if the Government provides such opportunities.

"We have been participating for the last two years. Two years back when we participated for first time, we just had two stalls, last year we had 15, but this year the number has increased to 26. It is a very good and healthy sign. I want that our participation increases and trade figures enhance and increase," said Khurshid, representative of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce.

The organizers said that every year the fair is visited by a large number of people and it registers a high volume of business as a result of the high purchasing power of the average Punjabi family. (ANI)
