Haryana poll candidate chooses condom as symbol
Chandigarh, Oct 1: Social activist Anand Prakash who is contesting in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections has apparently asked the Election Commission to allot an unusual and unconventional election symbol- a condom.
The independent Karnal candidate who has been working for years towards HIV-AIDS awareness and rights of sex workers has opted for a symbol that reflects his agenda.
However, the Election Commission that fails to see the rationale behind the candidate's choice has reportedly urged him to chose another symbol.
Sharma who has written to the Chief Election Commissioner and Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh demanding that he should be alloted the symbol of the condom, plans to take legal advice on the issue if his demand is not met.
Ideally, since no other party or candidate have chosen the symbol, Sharma is free to opt for it.
