Delhi: 22-year-old dies of H1N1; toll to 11
New Delhi, Oct 1: A 22-year-old man succumbed to influenza A (H1N1) in Delhi Wednesday, Sep 30, taking the toll to 11 in the city.
The patient was admitted at Safdarjung Hospital with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
"He was put on ventilator immediately but his condition did not improve. Both his lungs had been infected and he succumbed to the virus in the morning," said Dr Anjan Prakash, spokesperson, Delhi Health department.
At least 58 people were tested positive for H1N1 influenza, taking the total number of reported cases to 2,739. Twenty-nine school children were among those tested positive on Wednesday, said Dr Prakash.
