Application opposing closure of case against 'Q'
New Delhi, Oct 1: Just days after the government decided to drop all the cases against Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in connection with the Bofors case, an application seeking rejection of the closure was filed with the Delhi High Court.
In the application for rejection of any closure that may be filed by CBI, Advocate Ajay Agrawal, who has been pursuing Bofors case in the Supreme Court alleges that this move was being taken inspite of having enough the evidence to prosecute the Italian businessman
The case against Quattrocchi is scheduled for hearing before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Saturday, Oct 3.
On Tuesday, Sep 29, Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium told the supreme court that the government had decided to close the cases against Quattrocchi as the case can not be kept pending any longer.
After this, Law Minister, Veerappa Moily defended the government's move saying that the case has been going on for very long and "the case could be pursued with a positive result."
