Air India suspends domestic booking
New Delhi, Sep 29: In a bid to cut down the inconvenience caused to its passengers, Air India has decided to suspend domestic flight bookings till further notice along with cancelling a majority of its morning flights.
Announcing this Air India Chairman and Managing Director Arvind Jadhav said, "We have suspended the booking of tickets till further notice in order to save the passengers from inconvenience caused by the cancellations of flights due to the agitation."
Jadhav added that the airline has decided to cancel a majority of its morning flights.
For the passengers who have already booked tickets with Air India and wish to learn the status of the flight, the airline has set up a helpline. The passengers can call 1407 with their queries.
Scores of Air India flights have remained grounded since Saturday, Sep 26 after the pilots started agitating against the 50 pc cut in the productivity linked incentives (PLI). In protest, a total of 180 pilots have called in 'sick' over the weekend.
The airlines which has already posted heavy losses during the fiscal sought bailout packages from government. The government promised to help if the airline shaped up and cut costs.
In a bid to cut costs, the cash strapped airline announced the cut in the incentives about a week ago which has led to the current crisis.
