Tamiflu now available at chemists
Pune, Sep 22: Swine Flu medicine, Tamiflu is now available in retail markets as per the notification issued by the Health Ministry on Tuesday, Sep 15. And reports say that the first batch of 2,000 Tamiflu tablets have already arrived in Pune.
The health ministry which was reluctant to approve retail sale of the anti-viral drug fearing misuse of the medicine have formulated a way to counter it.
The H1N1 drug will be categorized under Schedule X which lists a series of drugs not commonly available for sale.
The drugs under the Schedule X can only be obtained through a double prescription. One prescription for the patient and one for the chemist who is selling Tamiflu.
The chemist is also expected to put a stamp or provide some kind of a seal on the prescription indicating that the drug has been issued.
