2nd earthquake rocks NE; first quake toll at 11
Guwahati, Sep 22: While the death toll due to the earthquake that jolted Assam and the adjourning regions on Monday, Sep 21 came up to 11, another temblor rocked northeast India on Tuesday, Sep 22 morning.
The second earth quake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale at around 1.08 am with the epicentre located along Myanmar.
Besides Myanmar, northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur experienced this quake.
"There are no immediate reports of any damage to lives and properties in Tuesday's earthquake, although people panicked and ran out of their homes with Monday's high intensity quake still fresh in their minds," said a disaster management official.
