Manipur: Car bomb was found at governor's house
Imphal, Sep 18: A major disaster was averted on Friday, Sep 18 when the police detected an explosives-laden car inside the premises of the Manipur governor's house, official said.
A police spokesperson said that security officials managed to detect a bomb fitted in a Maruti car parked inside the Raj Bhavan around 2 pm on Friday, Sep 18.
"The bomb disposal squad has defused the explosive," a senior police official said.
"Investigations are now on to ascertain how the explosives-laden car managed to enter the high security Raj Bhavan," the official said.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat was at the Raj Bhavan when the car bomb was detected.
"We cannot immediately say whether it was fitted with a timer device or the exact nature of the explosives," the official said.
