K'taka: H1N1 claims life of techie, toll up to 28

Bangalore, Sep 2: A 31-year-old techie succumbed to the H1N1 virus in Bangalore taking the state's Swine flu death toll to 28.

The software engineer who hails from Tamil Nadu was working with a reputed US/based IT company in Bangalore. Officials said that the man who was admitted in the Lakeside hospital died on Tuesday, Sep 1.

"He was admitted with symptoms of pneumonia in progression and was down with fever for a week before he was brought here. He was administered Tamiflu on the first day and then put on ventilator for the next three days before he died," H Paramesh, director of Lakeside Hospital was quoted as saying.

His samples were sent for testing on Aug 29. However, the confirmation was received only on Tuesday, Sep 1.

It is important to note that in most of the death cases reported from Bangalore, the test results confirming Swine flu have been delayed.
