BJP leader shot dead in Uttarakhand police station

Dehrudun, Aug 23: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balwant Singh Kanyal was allegedly shot dead by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Neeraj Tiwari inside the Kaladhungi police station in Uttarakhand on Saturday, Aug 23 night.

Police have arrested Tiwari, who is accused of initiating a fight with Kanyal and then allegedly murdering him.

Infuriated over the alleged murder of Kanyal, a mob on Sunday, Aug 23 set ablaze Kaladhungi police station and also attacked several policemen. The injured policemen have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has ordered the suspension of the policemen who were present at the time of Kanyal"s murder in the station.
