LTTE funded Rajnikanth's movies: SL minister

Chennai, Aug 21: A Sri Lankan minister has stirred up a controversy on Thursday, Aug 20 by alleging that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) funded movies of Tamil superstar, Rajnikanth.

Sri Lanka's Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Minister Abdul Rishad Bathiudeen told to a newspaper, "The money was not sent directly. Millions of US dollars were given to a London-based Tamilian. He was asked to produce Tamil films in Chennai with top stars like Rajnikanth."

He said that Rajnikanth's movies were lavishly funded by the LTTE and several prominent politicians of Tamil Nadu also figured in the minister's list.

Sources said that MDMK's V Gopalaswamy, PMK's S Ramadoss, Tamil Nationalist Movement's P Nedumaran and Tamil Eelam Supporters Coordination Committee have been mentioned in the list.

Sources also said that there was no response from Rajnikanth, as the superstar was busy shooting for his upcoming film, Endiran.
