Bangalore, Aug 20: In an attempt to lower its dependence on the US markets, Infosys is reportedly chasing government deals in India.

Quoting an official, media reports reveal that the country's second-largest IT services exporter, has bid for more than 10 large government projects.

Infosys gets almost half of its revenue from the America as opposed to the current 'insignificant' level of projects from domestic markets.

The company is now planning to generate 1 billion dollars worth of business from the domestic market in 2 to 3 years, said Binod Rangadore, the head of its India business unit.

In an interview with a news agency Mr Rangadore said, "There are large opportunities in India. So we are definitely going to go after these kinds of businesses very aggressively in India."

"We have a very healthy pipeline right now," he added.

It is interesting to note that most of the big outsourcing firms are now pursuing projects from markets like India, China, Japan and Europe to beat the recession in US.
