Shopian case: HC postpones hearing till Aug 26

Srinagar, Aug 19: The Jammu Kashmir High Court has postponed the hearing of the Shopian case till next Wednesday, Aug 26, following objections laid by the local bar association over state government's request for CBI in the case.

The division bench of the state high court comprising Chief Justice Barin Ghosh and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir heard the public interest litigation filed by the Kashmir Bar Association.

The state government on Wednesday, Aug 19 had filed an application before the court stating it was ready to have the case investigated by the CBI, if approved by the High Court.

Main Qayoom, the president of the bar association said to court that bar had serious reservations regarding the transferring of the investigations of this case to the CBI.

The High Court asked the bar association to file the objections to the state's application for transfer of the case investigations to CBI and deferred the hearing to next Wednesday, Aug 26.
