CWC to discuss on drought crisis on Aug 19
New Delhi, Aug 19: As drought threatens the country, the Congress Working Committee on Wednesday, Aug 19 will held a meeting to ask the government to take up measures to tackle the crisis.
The CWC, the party's highest policy-making body, has also invited Chief Ministers of party-ruled states to facilitate wider interaction on the issue.
Earlier, CWC had discussed the issue of price rise at its meeting in Jun 2009 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had explained to the members on the international economic scenario and the status of economy in the country.
India has witnessed rainfall deficiency of 29 pc and the number of districts facing drought or drought-like situation has gone up to 207.
