Karnataka signs cultural pact with Sweden
Bangalore, Aug 13: Karnataka has signed a cultural pact with Region Vastra Gotaland of Sweden to have cultural exchange programs of knowledge and experience.
The agreement came after two years of consultations and talks between individuals and organisations, public and private, engaged in the fields of the arts, culture and learning.
The key partners in the agreement are the departments of Kannada and Culture and Information, GoK, and Vastra Gotaland on the west coast of Sweden is one of the country"s largest regions with an area of 24,000 sq.kms.
The President of the Committee of Cultural Affairs and Region Vastra Gotaland, Lars Nordstrom said, "It is crucially important for a small, but vital region of Sweden, like Vastra Gotaland, to open out to emerging India and the knowledge city of Bangalore and culturally rich state of Karnataka to further our own interests in the fields of culture and knowledge."
