Ahmedabad, Aug 10: The Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) will not only be conducting the Common Admission Test (CAT) online from this year but the format has turned more flexible.

An IIM-Ahmedabad officials has been quoted in media reports as revealing that the CAT will be a computer based tests (CBT) from this year onwards and that it will be conducted in two sessions each day. In the tests that will be held in a span of about 10 days there will be a morning session and an afternoon session.

The IIM-A website states the the CAT will take place from Nov 28 to Dec 7, 2009.

The candidate who wishes to take the test can chose the test date, session and a venue from across thirty centres across India. Although this will be subject to availability.

The candidate has to first buy a scratch-voucher from the designated bank branches and then register online. The sale of vouchers and registration for CAT 2009 will take place between Sep 9 and Oct 1, 2009.

This move comes after 33 years of conducting the test in and paper pencil format. But a development like this is bound to affect the aspiring students who do not have internet facilities.
