Ragging in Delhi: Seniors abuse fresher in hostel

New Delhi, Aug 3: Despite the Supreme Court ban and the incidents of ragging inviting hefty fines and criminal cases, another case of ragging has surfaced in the Delhi University's Kirori Mal College (KMC).

A fresher from KMC was allegedly ragged by two seniors from second year in the hostel room on Sunday, Aug 3 evening. Ashutosh, a student of first year BSc (physical science) and was called by the two senior students to their room and was reportedly abused there.

Promising action, the KMC administration has asked both the seniors identified as Hani Mohammad of BSc (physical science) and Akshay Chaudhary of BSc (computer science) to vacate the hostel immediately.

However, the Maurice Nagar police station is yet to receive a complaint.

Earlier, the ragging incidents were reported from Indian Institute of Information Technology- Allabad (IIIT- A) and Banares Hindu University (BHU). The students who indulged in ragging were slapped with a fine of Rs 50,000 each and the students of BHU were booked under criminal charges.
