MNS women activists protest against rising prices in Mumbai
Mumbai, Aug 3(ANI): Over a hundred of women activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) took to the streets in Mumbai on Monday to protest against rising prices of basic commodities.
The protesters carried an effigy of a demon signifying price rise, beat utensils and raised slogans against the Maharashtra government for failing to curtail the rising prices.
"We are fighting for the rights of the common people and if something good comes out of it, then it is all the more good," said an unidentified protester.
The increased prices have put a dent on the common man's budget, already reeling under the global economic slowdown and job losses.
One of the reasons of hike in prices of basic commodities like vegetables, and other goods is attributed to recent hike in fuel prices.
However, despite the price rise oil firms were likely to suffer a revenue loss of Rs 560 billion on the sale of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and kerosene in this fiscal year. (ANI)
