NDA to submit memorandum to President over Indo-Pak joint statement
New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): Members of Parliament of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance would submit a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday to draw her attention on the controversial joint statement with Pakistan issued in Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt and some other issues.
"All NDA MPs will march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan from Raisina Hill to hand over a memorandum to the President," BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, told media in the capital on Monday.
Sushma said the NDA memorandum would seek President's attention on "contentious" issues like the Indo-Pak joint statement, the end use agreement with the United States, the G-8 resolution on enrichment technology and the agreement on climate change."
She said the NDA wanted to hand over the memorandum to the President ahead of the discussion in Parliament on the Indo-Pak joint statement.
When asked if Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav was in disagreement with the BJP on the issue, Sushma said he was part of the meeting that decided to meet President. "There is no disagreement." (ANI)
