Swine Flu scare hits schools, 3 Pune schools shut

New Delhi, Jul 25: Due to the increasing number of Swine Flu cases, three schools in Pune have suspended classes in an attempt to contain the virus from spreading.

A Pune school on Saturday, Jul 25 declared that it would be shut for a week due to a rise in the number of students who have contracted the H1N1 Influenza or Swine Flu. Two other schools too resorted to the same measure to stop the virus from spreading.

"Three schools in Pune where students were affected by the H1N1 virus have been shut by the authorities for a week to ensure that the disease does not spread among more children," state Swine Flu Control Room head Pradeep Awate was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

The closed schools are: Abhinav English Medium School with 23 students affected, Symbiosis Primary and High School with 2 students affected, and Seva Sadan High School with one case of Swine Flu.
