Mumbai city prepares to face the highest tide

Mumbai, Jul 24: Heavy rains in Mumbai crippled normal life again and city is preparing itself to face high tides from the Arabian Sea.

Met department communiques said that Mumbai has received 40mn rain till 08:39 am in the morning on Thursday, Jul 23. It is also predicted heavy rains in next 24 hours.

The Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said, "Heavy downpour has led to water logging in lower parts of the city and the suburbs."

The BMC has put its staff on high alert to counter the effects of high tide. The met department has warned that Mumbai might see a high tide of nearly five metres on Thursday, Jul 23 or Friday, Jul 24.

Meanwhile, the BMC has also urged the education centre to declare a holiday in education institutions to avoid panic and locals to stay way from beaches.
